Top 5 Drones 2016

When drones were introduced to the RC world they opened a new era in technology, looking like something out of Star Wars drones are powered by 4 propellers which allows the drone to hover, fly around and perform movements like no other flying machine and they offer great control with the stabilizing tech they have installed. Drones are now being sold with GoPro cameras on them and are used by people and even large scale film production companies around the world to get shots that would normally have to be taken by helicopter and cost a lot more money!

Lets take a look at the top 5 drones 2016.

#3 Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 Power Edition

The AR.Drone 2.0 Power Edition allows you to capture HD photos and footage from the air and save them directly to your smartphone. Control the drone easily with a touch of your screen. The Power Edition packs 2 high density lithium polymer batteries, enabling it to fly for up to 36 minutes. It also comes with 4 sets of different colour propellers.

720p HD camera
Capture high quality photos and videos using the built-in HD camera with a wide-angle lens.

You can store footage immediately to your remote device or a USB flash drive. The video will be sent via Wi-Fi directly to your device as it’s being recorded, and low latency streaming allows you to watch your recording in real time without any noticeable delay.

The camera can also capture JPEG photos. The drone features both a frontal and vertical camera.

This is the primary application used to pilot the AR.Drone. You can choose whether to pilot with or without the accelerometer, and switch between the frontal and vertical camera.

The app features a user-friendly interface so it’s easy to control the drone from your smart device, and allows you to record videos, pictures and data and instantly upload them.

Director mode
Shoot great pre-planned videos by programming automatic movements in Director mode.

Choose your movement type, such as pan, crane and travelling, and adjust your moves and speed in real time to keep control of your video. Achieve smooth shots with the stabilisation system and video post-processing.

Using this mode, you can also fine-tune your camera settings including exposure, white balance and more.

When you’ve finished your video, you can share it on YouTube and AR.Drone Academy.

Flight Recorder GPS
This accessory works as your drone’s black box, and improves the AR.Drone 2.0’s existing features.

Enjoy improved stabilisation for clearer, smoother shots, and view your flights in 3D. The “return home” mode brings your drone safely back to you at its take-off point, and a new mode allows you to control the drone by map.

AR.Drone Academy
With the AR.Drone Academy, you can keep track of your flights on the map, watch back your best videos with statistics, and directly share online with other pilots from anywhere in the world.

#2 DJI Phantom 3 Advanced with 2.7K

A complete 2.7K camera and 3-axis gimbal system come integrated with the Phantom 3 Advanced edition quadcopter from DJI. In addition to video, the camera is capable shooting up to 12 MP still photos using JPEG or non-proprietary DNG RAW format. The three axes of the gimbal give you pan and tilt control, and keep the horizon line level even as the aircraft banks. Different gimbal settings allow the camera to lock onto a fixed subject, be moved manually using transmitter rotaries or the app, or to simply provide camera stabilization. This bundle of the Phantom 3 is classed as “ready-to-fly.” This means the basics to get you in the air are included – a flight battery, charger, and pre-bound handheld transmitter (radio controller), and 16GB microSD card among them. Depending on your application, you may also require additional memory cards, additional flight batteries, and a mobile device to access the app, and possibly other accessories. Also note that a number of important compass and GPS calibration steps must be carried out before flying to ensure the flight control computer operates correctly. Please refer to the manual or Quick Start Guide before your first flight.
